Prototype Description: As humans we cannot create a better world if we do not first envision it. Neither can we liberate ourselves from our fears and prejudices if we do not imagine what liberation looks like. We cannot fight for justice if we are stuck only with images of injustice. As we continue striving for the liberation of all oppressed people we must let our imaginations run wild and must dream. A group of C-Lab members decided to create a model for interaction with people struggling with socio-economic and/or cultural “depression” where a combination of different art and psychological tools and methods can provoke them to “step out of the box” in order to firstly – start dreaming about their daily life and secondly – to start creating a common vision with their friends/neighbours/relatives/etc. for their place of living. Through Step Out of the Box – Start Dreaming we will create a liberated vision for the future. The workshop will provide a base for deep understanding of dreaming, which is a first step to regain the control on your life. It will also help to understand that rather than being passive observers of our life, we better learn to be the main actor in it – in our local environment, working place, etc. The Team's fieldwork observations show that among the main reasons for the massive loss of dreams, especially in countryside, are: • the lack of social and cultural life there, • the low or no chance for finding a meaningful job, therefore little chance for personal development and professional career, • the inability to make even short-term plans due to a range of external factors, etc. Aims of the prototype: Through Step Out of the Box – Start Dreaming we will create a liberated vision for the future. The workshop will provide a base for deep understanding of dreaming, which is a first step to regain the control on your life. It will also help to understand that rather than being passive observers of our life, we better learn to be the main actor in it – in our local environment, working place, etc. A successful outcome of this prototype would be to provoke local people to look at their place in different way, to feel proud of themselves – of their skills, knowledge – and to start thinking how wonderful it would be to make the place better and to be able to invite more people to come around, to provoke them dreaming about a better future, because every single change in the world was born as a dream in somebody’s mind. Target Groups: The prototype will target unemployed as well as socially excluded people from areas which are in situation of rising depopulation or socio-economic underdevelopment. The team will pilot the Prototype with people from Lovech region, Bulgaria.
